Coach, HR professional, engineer, writer, volunteer, entrepreneur
- I like to don many hats.
After 6.5 years in corporate, I am currently charting a new career path exploring multiple interests in consulting, sports, food, education, and life coaching.
I am a compulsive reader and I sometimes compose a few lines of prose. I also like to watch movies, sitcoms, and general videos or catch live sports (football, cricket, F1 et al). I have also tried my hand at many sports and am more than capable with a cricket bat, a basketball and with a badminton racquet. And I love to travel.
All my formative years (read: schooling) were spent in Indore in Central India, but my family has been in the capital city, New Delhi, for the past few years, while I reside in Bengaluru with my wife, Itisha.
An Engineering degree (B.Tech.) from DA-IICT, Gandhinagar where I dabbled in event management, sports, and computer gaming,
and a Masters (MBA) from MDI, Gurgaon where I was a student council leader, led an array of student activities and was involved with corporate communication activities for the college. This is where I also met my future wife.
An experience of 6 and a half years as an HR professional across multiple streams primarily with Aditya Birla Group, where grew from a Management Trainee to leading a functional vertical in HR and rich experience of projects and roles.
All things fiction. I love a good thriller, as much as a mind-bending science-fiction. A bit hesitant to pick up autobiographies or opinion pieces without recommendations. I did fall off the habit for a bit but have picked it up again and even wrote about it. You can follow my reading challenge or check out my lists on GoodReads.
I have written a few poems and stories, though never published them. I have also written numerous articles and editorials during college and corporate. Recently started writing a few blog posts and sharing some of my stories, opinions and experiences with an aim to write more often.
Since childhood, I have been drawn towards social volunteering around causes of livelihood and education. I have been working with senior citizen forums for the past couple of years and also been associated, for the last 5 years, with an NGO, Make-A-Difference, as an academic volunteer and mentor, supporting educational and personality building activities for shelter home children in India. I am always on the look-out for such opportunities.
Beaches or mountains. Adventure or relaxing. Solo or groups. I live for experiences, and up for all kinds of travel, domestic and international. The pace of travel has gone up in the last 5 years and I have visited 28 countries, 161 cities (or towns) and a lot of many places. I, along with my wife, have a few notes from those trips which we share on 'The Blue Bag Journal'.
Enthusiastic Sportsperson, and Adventurist
Badminton, squash, table-tennis, basketball, swimming, lawn tennis, cricket, football, ultimate frisbee; I continue to learn and play most if not all. And that extends to adventure sports having bungee jumped in Macau and sky-dived in Dubai. I am a PADI certified Open Water Scuba Diver with dives in Pondicherry, Thailand (Phi Phi), and Jordan (Red Sea). an AAPI Elementary Paragliding Pilot with 2 hours of flight, an occasional trekker with treks in South India & Himalayas (Annapurna Base Camp), and also a sporadic Cyclist, which started as a fitness activity, transitioned to commuting and then to fun rides. I continue to cycle my way around the city, and spreading the word, motivating more people to take it up and teaching newbies.
Landscapes, travel, food, experience, nature, perspectives; I capture a lot, through DSLR and phone camera, but am still learning. I have created a curated collection of photographs - through my scope
Eternal Foodie, but a Novice Cook
Originally from a mid-size city Indore from Central India, which turned me into a foodie that I am. I love to try out new cuisines and yet have my favourites which I am always craving for. I have even started to tap into my cooking interests and am getting more attuned to different dishes.
My headline - Jack of all and an explorer
My compass - new experiences
My maxim - live life, enjoy!
My mantra - read, write, travel, eat, play; repeat
